Women WEDDING Suit & TUX

More brides are choosing suits. A well-crafted wedding suit is distinctive, elegant and uniquely yours — a choice that photographs beautifully, keeps you comfortable across a full day, and gives you a garment you'll wear long after the wedding is over.

At Chokman, we've been making wedding suits for women for over 12 years — for brides, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride across Sydney. Every suit starts with a 30-minute consultation, 30+ individual measurements, and ends with a garment that fits your body and reflects your vision.

Why Choose a Wedding Suit Over a Dress

It's a growing choice — and for good reason.

The Australian wedding market is seeing a significant shift — more brides are choosing tailored suits over traditional dresses. The reasons vary: some want something distinctive and personal, some want comfort across a full day, some simply suit a tailored silhouette better than a gown.

A bespoke wedding suit at Chokman gives you:

A perfect fit across your entire body Wedding dresses are notorious for fitting in one area and failing in another. A bespoke suit is built from 30+ individual measurements — every proportion of your body accounted for. The jacket closes comfortably, the shoulders sit correctly, the trousers fall exactly where they should.

Comfort from ceremony to last dance A well-made wool or linen suit moves with you — no restrictive boning, no sweeping train to manage, no concern about sitting down. Many of our wedding suit brides tell us it was the most comfortable they've ever felt at a formal event.

A garment you wear again A wedding dress typically has one occasion. A bespoke wedding suit has dozens — every formal event, every corporate occasion, every night out where you want to look exceptional. The cost-per-wear calculation is incomparable.

Something genuinely yours Every detail of a Chokman wedding suit is chosen by you — fabric, colour, lapel style, lining, buttons, silhouette. The result is something no dress rack could produce.

Wedding Suit Styles We Make

The Classic Bridal Trouser Suit

A structured jacket paired with tailored straight-cut or wide-leg trousers. The most popular choice for brides — clean, elegant and works across every venue from grand ballroom to garden ceremony. Available in ivory, white, cream, champagne and any fabric colour.

The Tuxedo

Peak lapels, satin facing, tailored trousers with a side stripe. The most formal and dramatic choice — a statement look for evening weddings, rooftop ceremonies and black tie receptions. Stunning in ivory or white with contrast black lapels, or in all-white for maximum impact.

The Skirt Suit

A structured jacket paired with a pencil, A-line or pleated skirt. A more traditionally feminine silhouette while still offering the tailored precision of bespoke construction. Particularly popular for garden weddings and civil ceremonies.

The Three-Piece Blazer

Waistcoat and trousers in the same fabric. The waistcoat adds visual depth and photographs exceptionally well — particularly when the jacket comes off during the reception. A contrasting waistcoat in a complementary fabric adds personality.

The Relaxed Linen Suit

For outdoor, beach or garden weddings — a softer construction in linen or wool-linen blend. Breathable in Sydney's summer heat, effortlessly elegant, and the ideal choice for ceremonies at venues like Watsons Bay, the Royal Botanic Gardens or the Hunter Valley.

The Jumpsuit

A tailored one-piece in suit fabric, increasingly popular for brides who want something distinctive and fashion-forward. Available in wide-leg, straight-cut or cropped silhouettes.

Wedding Suit Process

Step 1 — Initial Consultation (Week 1) meeting with John to discuss the wedding theme, venue, colour palette and style direction. Fabric samples are selected and the overall look is confirmed. Measurements are taken ensuring every suit is cut to the individual, not a generic size.

Step 2 — Construction (Weeks 3–4) All suits are hand-crafted in our studio simultaneously — ensuring consistent quality and finish across every garment.

Step 3 — Final Fittings (Week 5-6) Each groomsman returns for a final fitting. Any adjustments are made in store. Suits are pressed and ready for collection.

Total turnaround: 5–6 weeks from initial consultation. Book early — particularly for spring and summer weddings.

Sydney Wedding Venues — What to Wear

Formal ballroom venues (The Star, Park Hyatt, Four Seasons, Doltone House) Super 120s or Super 140s wool in ivory or white. Structured silhouette — classic trouser suit or tuxedo. Peak or notch lapels both work. Polished leather shoes or heels.

Garden and outdoor venues (Royal Botanic Gardens, Centennial Park, Hunter Valley) Wool-linen blend or Super 120s in lighter colours — ivory, white, soft grey or champagne. Relaxed construction — softer shoulder, half-lined jacket. Flat shoes or low heels appropriate.

Harbourside venues (Waterview, Dockside, Pier One) Lightweight Super 120s in soft ivory or navy. Clean, elegant silhouette — the Sydney harbour backdrop rewards classic tailoring. Avoid very structured or heavy fabrics.

Beach and coastal venues (Watsons Bay, Bondi, Northern Beaches) Linen or wool-linen blend in white, ivory or light cream. The most relaxed construction — unlined or half-lined jacket. Flat shoes or sandals.
